In the age of Facebook and Tweeting presidents, fake news is rife on the internet. Corporate ownership biases and party political corruption in the mainstream media and print news also divert attention from the truth. But a number of world news outlets remain reputable and trusted. Here are 10 of the most trustworthy.

"Times of India" (TOI)

The "Times of India" is one of the most reputable news outlets on the subcontinent. It provides online news to India in Hindi and English, and steers clear of emotive, unsourced or untrue reporting. It's also the oldest English-language newspaper in the nation.

Wikinews

Wikipedia gets a lot of flack for being unreliable, for the simple reason that users can edit it. But that's actually Wikinews's strength. Fake news doesn't last long, as users are quick to spot it and eradicate it from the website for good.

The Associated Press (AP)

The AP is a non-profit global news agency that was set up in 1846. Many less-reputable local headline news outlets re-run stories from the AP, but they'll often add their own spin first. The AP, on the other hand, tends to stick to general, relatively unbiased information.

The British Broadcasting Corporation is funded by the government (like some of the world's worst propaganda platforms), and is continually fielding complaints for its bias. Still, many people around the world believe it to be a reputable source.
